Through house visits, parents’ evenings, counselling and supporting the parents and caretakers we gain their trust!
UNCSO does consciously not take the enrolled children out of their family or environment. On the contrary, we are actively involving the children‘s parents or foster parents. By doing this we trust to have a bigger impact on the children‘s entire environment without taking them away from their culture and family.
Involving the parents means we do house visits on a monthly basis. We talk about the children and possible problems with their education, the family situation, health issues and vice versa. It is very important to us to have a close relationship with the parents. We are familiar with their background and so we can provide them the support they need.
It helps that our staff can communicate in the various local languages with the families.
We host regular parents evenings, at which we inform them about the project and their children’s achievements.
